  3. Or, if you have a sequence like me that seems to go on forever they'll go "really? another trailer?" I tested my friends patience and made one that started with a theater intro, an audio bumper, a no smoking PSA, a commercial for the snack bar, a no cell phones PSA, 5 minutes of trivia, 3 minutes of movie facts, a gumby cartoon which I think are around 5 minutes, a no crying babies PSA, another snack bar commercial, 4 trailers, a 2nd audio bumper just because, and a THX countdown bumper before the feature started for good measure. Oh and before the trivia I played a curtains opening avi somebody on AVS made. I'm not sure why it's so long, but it's 20 seconds and doesn't start opening until 15 seconds. I also had a Hue light dimming script that took an obnoxiously long time. When it started they were pretty impressed, and were into it until about the 8 minute mark when they got restless and asked when the damn movie was starting. It went on for like another 15 minutes lol. Not surprisingly, they didn't want to come back for movie night unless I promised to just play the movie. Also played it for a female friend who ended up falling asleep before the movie had even started lol. People really dig PSE when I run a reasonable sequence that doesn't take 20-30 minutes. Most of the older people haven't seen Gumby in decades and they get excited when they see it. But to answer the question, I like my mini movie theater popcorn machine. It can make a lot more than a pot on the stove, so if there are 4-5 people I can make enough in 1 batch. I also love the auto dimming script for the Hue lights, now all I need are smart blinds so I can have them close automatically when I fire up PSE. Oh and my Ninji Thristi if anyone wants something bubbly to drink.

  16. Eons ago somebody on the AVS forums made a huge collection of commercials, slides, trivia and some other stuff for back when this was HTE or. Anywho, he had put everything on a DVD and I paid for him to burn and ship me one. There's a whole lot on it. This was back when people still had DVD drives and Kodi wasn't even Kodi yet. So it's not super high quality by today's standards. But there's some great stuff. I don't just want to wreckelessly upload stuff, so I'm asking is there anything I can't upload? There are a bunch of short cartoons on it, Popeye, Gumby, Betty Boop, I'm guessing those would be a no go, but since they're 50+ year old cartoons maybe it's okay. I don't want to violate any rules until I know though. I am about to go upload some trivia. If anyone's interested let me know what you want me to upload. It has all the Coke slides, I'm assuming he's the one who made those. I don't remember who it was, so if anyone remembers their name please let me know. I'd be curious to see if they ever did another group of maybe 4k trivia.

  18. I group my PreShows into 2 categories, short and full. For regular movie nights I just have a simple intro and trailers. I try to keep it between 5-10 minutes. For my big movie nights I do something similar to what you described. I try to think of the experience kind of like a chef. The basic PreShow is primarily a palate cleanser. I want to get people ready to leave the world behind and enjoy a movie. The full thing is a multi-course meal, where I want to take people on a journey.
  19. Hey @Quebert . Welcome back. It's always great to hear from people that enjoy PreShow, and the versions prior to it. The conditions were developed by the person before me. An upcoming versions of PreShow will include metadata so that you can display more relevant trivia. The goal is to create the conditions at the content level instead of at the sequence level so that you can use 1 sequence for a wide variety of content. More specifically, the 1st version will look at rating and genres and deliver content that is a better match to your movie. For example, if you are watching an R rated horror movie you won't be getting Pixar trivia, and vice versa. The latest version of PreShow in the repo already includes the 1st version of metadata for video bumpers. I also have options for release year, director and cast to better refine the content, but that will be in development/testing for a long while. Thanks for your post.
  20. Intro PSA about shutting up old outdated commerical old cartoon - I have Popeye, Gumby, Betty Boop, Tennessee Tuxedo. old outdated refreshment ad trivia with the matching theme music for the movie. random movie facts movie trailer rating bumper audio bumper movie For some reason my friends find it to be obnoxiously long, I kinda see their point now so I'm gonna chop it down. And with PSE having conditions, I'm going to spend a silly amount of time making sequences for movies I have trivia for and just whatever I can do with it that HTE & CE couldn't. And I don't remember how I had it configured, but I'm sure when HTE came out 15 years ago my original sequence was even longer and more obnoxious lol.
  21. Overwrite. Sometimes those may be higher resolution versions of older logos. For example, this latest update includes new Atlas Film, Lucas Arts, Focus Features and Mandalay Pictures logos.
  22. I've been using PSE since it was uhhhh, Home Theater Experience, back before Kodi was Kodi. I used Cinema Experience, which I'm pretty sure there was 1 more after before PSE started. I used to go back and forth with the original author, and a few times with the CE author with 1 suggestion. The ability to select trivia for specific movies, so I could set up my trivia to tie in with the movies. Both said it was a good idea, and would consider it. Nothing ever came from it, so I would copy just the trivia for the movie I wanted into the trivia folder before I started XBMC. I stopped using Kodi for a chunk and came back to see you can now add conditions to your sequences. While I haven't tried it yet, this looks exactly like what I was suggesting both other authors should add. Well it looks like it can do a whole lot more actually. This is my favorite XBMC Addon, I remember how sad I was every time it died and I was never sure if it would even come back. This new version is awesome and the added conditional elements are perfect. To me that was about all that HTE was missing, and 15 years later to finally see it is crazy. I just want to thank Matt for the hard work and not letting CE, or whatever it was last called died. I have appreciated every programmer that picked up working on this when the last author let it die. And Kudos for the UI, I loved HTE but the UI was clunky and it was overly complicated to make sequences. Hopefully I'll be able to use PSE forever, I remember staying on an old buggy version of XBMC just because HTE was dead and wouldn't work with the newer versions lol. That's how much the plugin meant to me.
  23. do you overwrite existing with each release? Or just the new filenames are new?
  24. Even tho I can't sing and I never do, I like CULRCyrics, and Movie Quiz was great but it looks like it's not supported anymore. I think it was called movie quiz, was a trivia game that kept track of your score. And I always install Artist Slideshow to have artwork.

0.3.2.1 has been added to the site, which hopefully fixes this issue.
  32. I'll look at it when I get time, after the current dev round is completed. From my perspective, if you are repeating content then you are playing something in the background and it is ok if the music stops and potentially repeats the same music. I would just put some sort of other element in the loop with it so that there more natural flow to it. For example, play the slideshow and then a random short video and then come back to the slideshow. If you want to make this work now the way you described, make copies of your slideshow images and then use bulk rename utility to renumber them. You can figure out how long you want it to be and just add enough files to process that amount of time. I use that utility a lot and really like it.

  34. Hmmm... tried a loop command in the sequence, but that doesn't satisfy this request as the music stops and restarts, potentially playing the same songs again (we have plenty of music in the library.) Maybe I'm missing another method. Thank you.
  35. You should be able to combine it with the command module to make it loop. Let me know if you need help setting that up.
