Bug ReportpreShow Experience Version: 0.3.2.1 Module: Trivia Severity: High — potential loss of unsaved sequence changes SummaryThe Preview feature is very useful because it allows individual modules to be tested without having to run through the entire sequence. For most modules, pressing ESC while previewing exits the preview and returns to the Sequencer as expected. However, the Trivia module behaves differently. When Trivia is launched using Preview and ESC is pressed to exit, preShow Experience closes entirely and returns to the main Kodi screen instead of returning to the Sequencer. This can result in the loss of any unsaved changes made to the sequence before the Trivia preview was started. Steps to ReproduceOpen preShow Experience and enter the Sequencer. Make one or more changes to a sequence without saving them. Select a Trivia module and launch it using Preview. Press ESC to exit the Trivia preview. Actual ResultpreShow Experience exits completely and returns to the main Kodi screen. Any unsaved changes made to the sequence prior to starting the preview are lost. Expected ResultPressing ESC while previewing the Trivia module should behave consistently with other module previews: the preview should close and the user should be returned to the Sequencer with the current sequence and any unsaved changes intact. ImpactThis is particularly problematic because the behavior differs from other module previews. A user accustomed to pressing ESC to return to the Sequencer has no indication that doing so from Trivia will instead exit preShow Experience. Because the application exits without preserving the current sequence state, this can cause significant work to be lost. Suggested BehaviorThe Trivia preview should handle ESC in the same manner as other module previews and return directly to the Sequencer. If exiting preShow Experience is ever possible while there are unsaved sequence changes, it may also be beneficial to display a confirmation prompt before allowing those changes to be discarded.

Curious if there’s a way to program a sequence action or other method to advance to the next item based on a specific clock time. Here’s the scenario I run into: we program outdoor movies in our park, and the schedule needs to be pretty precise. We typically run a 30-minute block of trivia while people get situated, followed by a 9-minute theater intro, with the feature film starting right at 8:00 PM. That means I need to start the sequence at exactly 7:21 PM to keep everything on schedule. The issue is that if I start the sequence a minute or two late, the entire schedule gets pushed back. I’d rather not have to keep watching the clock to make sure I hit 7:21 exactly. Ideally, I’d like to place an action just before the trivia block that essentially says, “Wait here until 7:21 PM, then advance to the next item.” That way, I could start the sequence anytime before 7:21, and it would automatically move into trivia at the correct time. Is there currently a way to accomplish this in PreShow Experience, or perhaps another method that would achieve the same result? Thank you!

We work with a variety of intro templates that can be found on various stock sites, like Envato. They typically require apps like Adobe After Effects to render custom content into the template, but it's quite effective. You can search for a variety of known studio intros or work with logo reveals that are completely different from those found at the head of major motion pictures. There are also some people who you can pay to have intros built in the style of known studio intros. We couldn't find a Marvel style template for a student film festival, but found someone who had the ability to make one for us for about $50. It was incredibly similar to the comic book style Marvel intro - the kids were confused at first as this Marvel style intro began and then they lost their minds when they realize it was the title of the festival. They are out there. Just need to Google ;-)

@Matt - Regarding slideshows, we can't seem to figure out what commands the volume of the module. There isn't a volume setting in the module itself and there isn't a volume setting in the Playback section of the app settings. Thought maybe it was tied to Trivia, but it's not. Seems to come through at about 50% volume or something lower than 100%. If this isn't directly settable in the app, is this something we can manually "tweak" in the app folder outside of Kodi?

Hello, We’ve run into a portability issue when creating sequences in PreShow Experience on a desktop or non-media-server player. Currently, PreShow stores all media references as absolute file paths tied to the original machine. This means that if we move a PreShow project folder to another server or workstation, the sequence breaks because the media paths still point to the original device location. This creates unnecessary extra steps when deploying sequences for: Short films Theatre intros Touring productions Multi-server installations Instead of simply moving the PreShow project folder and relinking a single base directory, we have to manually update or recreate paths due to the absolute references. Requested FeatureIt would be extremely helpful if PreShow could support relative file paths for media content. For example: When setting a content directory in PreShow, the software would treat that folder as the base path. All media within the sequence would then be referenced relative to that base folder, rather than to an absolute system location. When moving the project to a new machine, we would only need to update the base content directory once. Hmmm... tried a loop command in the sequence, but that doesn't satisfy this request as the music stops and restarts, potentially playing the same songs again (we have plenty of music in the library.) Maybe I'm missing another method. Thank you.

We frequently set up a collection of 10 to 20 slides as a pre-show before our programming for 30 or so minutes using the Slideshow module. However, we encounter the slideshow limitation: once all the slides have been displayed once, the slideshow ends, regardless of the total duration set. To achieve our desired length, we duplicate and manually number the slides, which is quite cumbersome when looking to keep the same rotation order over and over. Would it be possible to add a “loop” option to this module? This would allow the slides to restart either in alphabetical order or in a continuous random order, while keeping the background music uninterrupted. We believe this feature would also be beneficial for the Trivia module when the trivia set has been shown in its entirety. Thanks for considering this request! Best, Spires

Hello, Is it possible to set the order of the trivia slides rather than random? I recall in CinemaVision there was a XML sort function, but I'm not finding this for the PreShow Experience. If there's another way to do this, please let me know. Thank you!
