I can't wait to try this, I have used your addon for years and it is great one to have in Kodi. Now the question I have is this: Will this work with non-library/.strm items? I am asking this, because I am interested to know if it will work with TMDBHelper, the one I use to play most of my movies. I like using TMDBHelper not just because of its players feature, but also because you can avoid adding items to the Kodi database/library by using a JSON file and import it in the widgets as a mdblist local list. You can then get all the movies displaying in Kodi, without having to deal with Kodi's database and its archaic rigid design. But to give an example: I created a player to point to a SMB share, another one to a .m3u8 playlist, and a fallback with an addon so I just hit play and the TMDBhelper players find the item and then play it, I just play and it will either find SMB Share or the .m3u8 file or go to the addon to see if it finds the media, so you can see the advantages of it, of course, when you add items to library from TMDBHelper it adds them as .strm, then you can scrape them and have them in library, which works great with PE, but it would be nice to just edit a JSON file and see the new movies added, remove the object in the JSON file, done, no Kodi's database to do the same job but more complicated. Currently when you hit the Preshow Experience button in context menu from a TMDBhelper widget, it says "No movies are in queue" and if you force the item to queue with the context menu -> Queue Item, and then go again to the PreShow experience in context menu, you can see the item with the same data that a library item would get, title and year and genre and everything looks the same, but when you play the item it says JSONRPC: Value does not lay between minimum and maximum in type movieid and JSONRPC: Invalid property "movieid" in type (and then many errors everywhere), but it would be nice if you could just use a random widget, library or non-library and make it work. Of course if you add the item to the library it works great, even if the TMDBHelper player has to use some search in whatever addon. Recently I even made the test and it works with .strm files even if they haven't added to the library, and they don't even have any movieid attached or metadata or anything, it only says {filename}.strm and done. So basically, it would be nice if it PreShow Experience 1.0 worked with Widgets from addons as well, and not just library items (or .strm files). Long question, but I hope you can see what I mean in case PE 1.0 is still not friendly with addons. Thank you for your work and have a good day.

You should be able to set a loop prior to the main content. Create a slideshow with a few slides that are on screen for 5 seconds each and have it looped until 7:21. You could even do a single black slide if you have it to appear as it is off. Try it out and let me know if that works. The current version is set up to check the clock at the end of the loop, which is why I'd only have a few slides that don't play for that long. The new version checks the time between segments so you can have a longer sequence that will stop as soon as the time hits and it finished whatever trivia, or other element, it is on.

I think this was addressed in a newer version in the repo. I don't see it in the logs though, so it may not have been released. I am considering making 1 final update to the existing PreShow format with all the changes from the newer version, minus database changes. I'll respond back if I implement these in the current version. PreShow 1.0 won't have this problem since it works completely differently.

Bug ReportpreShow Experience Version: 0.3.2.1 Module: Trivia Severity: High — potential loss of unsaved sequence changes SummaryThe Preview feature is very useful because it allows individual modules to be tested without having to run through the entire sequence. For most modules, pressing ESC while previewing exits the preview and returns to the Sequencer as expected. However, the Trivia module behaves differently. When Trivia is launched using Preview and ESC is pressed to exit, preShow Experience closes entirely and returns to the main Kodi screen instead of returning to the Sequencer. This can result in the loss of any unsaved changes made to the sequence before the Trivia preview was started. Steps to ReproduceOpen preShow Experience and enter the Sequencer. Make one or more changes to a sequence without saving them. Select a Trivia module and launch it using Preview. Press ESC to exit the Trivia preview. Actual ResultpreShow Experience exits completely and returns to the main Kodi screen. Any unsaved changes made to the sequence prior to starting the preview are lost. Expected ResultPressing ESC while previewing the Trivia module should behave consistently with other module previews: the preview should close and the user should be returned to the Sequencer with the current sequence and any unsaved changes intact. ImpactThis is particularly problematic because the behavior differs from other module previews. A user accustomed to pressing ESC to return to the Sequencer has no indication that doing so from Trivia will instead exit preShow Experience. Because the application exits without preserving the current sequence state, this can cause significant work to be lost. Suggested BehaviorThe Trivia preview should handle ESC in the same manner as other module previews and return directly to the Sequencer. If exiting preShow Experience is ever possible while there are unsaved sequence changes, it may also be beneficial to display a confirmation prompt before allowing those changes to be discarded.

Curious if there’s a way to program a sequence action or other method to advance to the next item based on a specific clock time. Here’s the scenario I run into: we program outdoor movies in our park, and the schedule needs to be pretty precise. We typically run a 30-minute block of trivia while people get situated, followed by a 9-minute theater intro, with the feature film starting right at 8:00 PM. That means I need to start the sequence at exactly 7:21 PM to keep everything on schedule. The issue is that if I start the sequence a minute or two late, the entire schedule gets pushed back. I’d rather not have to keep watching the clock to make sure I hit 7:21 exactly. Ideally, I’d like to place an action just before the trivia block that essentially says, “Wait here until 7:21 PM, then advance to the next item.” That way, I could start the sequence anytime before 7:21, and it would automatically move into trivia at the correct time. Is there currently a way to accomplish this in PreShow Experience, or perhaps another method that would achieve the same result? Thank you!

Hello, I recently updated my Hue Bridge to the Bridge Pro and now the lights won't work with PreShow Experience. This is all due to the Bridge Pro dropping HTTP support in favor of HTTPS with a self signed certificate (uses its' SN as the Common Name in the certificate). Basically anytime you try to access the Bridge Pro's API, it will fail SSL verification. A quick, but insecure, way to fix this would be to turn off SSL verification when making URL calls. Any way to make that an option in PreShow Experience? Hi all, I cannot use the addon for a while. Kodi 21.2 build. The addon starts up but when I try to edit the sequence, the buttons are not visible and I cannot do anything. I tried to import one of my old sequence and it seems like loads in but anything I try to choose there is no buttons after the bottom line. The play button gives me complete black screen and I have to kill kodi and restart it again. I have installed the addon from the repo 0.3.7.a1 on android tv. my content path is in the network NAS. use to work so I beleive it’s writable did not change anything. Does anyone know about this issue, is it fixable somehow? p.s.: oookay I have asked too fast. I created a new folder I had my existing preshow folder on my NAS and it did not work with that. With the new folder it works again, sorry guys.

Looking at the log, your sequence doesn't have a scraper set. I am unfortunately not sure if it fixable or not.

Hey! im having the exact same problem right now, it started when my 2 trailers where just showing 1 trailer, so I looked in my settings and nothing worked, I adjust some of the settings and now it won't show anything, just a black screen and then it goes to the next sequence. I redid all the settings to default which didn't seem to work, I reinstalled the YouTube plugin and logged in. And all my scrappers are the same as the ones you haven shown above, also updated my content and check for a preshowexperience update.
