I don't think that's a PSE thing, it's a KODI thing. I don't have PSE installed yet and when I view the trailers in KODI it requires the YouTube plugin and you're prompted to install it.

I'm using SMB on my FireTV, so glad you figured it was FTP doing something funky.
-
lol, it wasn't even in my theater, it was just on my computer.

I had my speakers turned up... that scared the piss out of me.

My movie starting announcement is my subs shaking the house. lol

Link to docs as I'm sure they are more clear than I could be. https://www.tinymediamanager.org/docs/movies/settings#artwork

That's the primary reason I went with a Fire TV. The integrated apps for online streaming is just more convenient and then I side loaded Kodi. I was just tired of having to switch between so many devices to watch shows from different sources.

I know I should know this, but I haven't had a reason to until starting to look at installing PreShow on my Fire TV Cube so I can move over some bumpers, etc. I tried looking it up on the Kodi forums and Wiki, but I haven't found a definitive answer. I know several people here use Android devices, so thought I eat some crow and ask. I presume it's all the same with Android, but I could be wrong. Did some more searching. I guess the terms I was originally using were wrong. I see Android doesn't support it natively and you have to install a SSH server. Looks like SSHelper is an option? Haven't check the Amazon store to see if it's available yet. Is that similar to what everybody else is using? Well, looks like SSHelper along with other apps with similar features are going to be short lived, specifically on anything Android 10 and beyond. https://arachnoid.com/android/SSHelper/ So I guess my initial question still stands...

Yes. Even tried the PictureIt visualization and it doesn't do anything either. I have it setup now to display fan art per track, we'll see if that changing every song is enough.

I use tinyMediaManager and they just released that last update for the free version 3. I like tMM because it's basically an all in one program that wraps up my movies in a nice package. It creates the .nfo files, downloads the artwork and links to trailers, etc. What does everybody else use? https://www.tinymediamanager.org/ To get the latest free version of 3.1.18 you'll need to go to the release archive under downloads or I could also upload them here for posterity if there's any interest and if it's allowed.

I tried the visualization before, but this little FireTV Cube doesn't have a lot of power for that kinds of stuff. I can see if I can find one that it can support and doesn't tax it too much.

Use Keywords In Movie Filename To Auto Select Custom Sequences
OTA commented on MidnightWatcher's __defart_ideas_idea in PreShow Experience
Options are good. There's always more ways than one to accomplish something. -
I was thinking it would be neat to have custom sequences for trivia and seasonal bumpers by date. Like have it check system date and for the month of December you could optionally set a Christmas related sequence. Same for Thanksgiving for November, Halloween for October, etc. Maybe even one off days like Memorial Day, Independence Day or any day really if you could set your own holidays in a calendar or something. Even birthdays. Not sure if it's possible for PSE to poll the system date or not.

Clearer conditional menu system
OTA commented on shredder5262's __defart_ideas_idea in PreShow Experience
From what I recall, all conditions had to be met before the sequence would run. There was no precedence in the conditions. It either met them or it didn't. I do recall having a fallback sequence on my setup if something didn't meet the requirements. My sequences were mostly related to audio and aspect ratio though and not genres, etc. -
Alternate database (remote mysql or mariadb?) for PSE
OTA commented on SFP_Matt's __defart_ideas_idea in PreShow Experience
There's a how-to on the kodi forums on how to do this with the movie database. It'd probably be similar for PSE. https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=196821 -
Use Keywords In Movie Filename To Auto Select Custom Sequences
OTA commented on MidnightWatcher's __defart_ideas_idea in PreShow Experience
I'm not sure I'd want to have to go through my entire library and rename all my movie files when the tag is likely already in your .nfo file, and if it's not, it can just be added. -
My Fire TV Cube does the same thing when I'm streaming music from my NAS. I wonder if there's an option in KODI for a keep alive or something to keep these devices from going to sleep.
-
Are you using SmartThings? I was wondering if the KODI Callback Endpoint still worked after SmartThings just recently or will soon change architectures and all groovy-based SmartApps won't work. https://community.smartthings.com/t/the-end-of-groovy-has-arrived/246280

I only used mine for lighting control via SmartThings. I don't have any motorized curtains or anything, but if I did, oh yeah...

I'm still running the same setup for years with the exception of the Fire TV Cube. It's getting a little long in the tooth, but I don't replace anything until it breaks and I can't fix it. My front stage speakers I built should last me a lifetime. Mitsubishi WD-82740 Fire TV Cube Kodi 20.0 (Nexus) Denon AVR-X4200W 7.2.2 Emotiva Mini-X A-100 Amp for Ceiling Speakers Behringer iNuke NU6000DSP for Subwoofers 2 x RSL C34E In-Ceiling Speakers Custom Built Fusion-15 Sentinel LCR Custom Built Mini-Marty Subwoofers 4 x Klipsch Quintet Surrounds QNAP TS-431 NAS I also have game consoles, and other stuff, but the above is my equipment that's specific to Kodi.
