Share a log and I'll try to help. To share a log, close out of Kodi and then reopen it.

Play a feature with Preshow.

Then go into the PreShow settings and scroll down in the general tab until you see "paste my kodi.log to pastebin." Click that and then click "current." Next, click Show QR code and use your phone to get the link to the pastebin page.

You can either share that in this thread or send me a direct message through the site with it.

I tried to update Kodi to 21.2, which seems to have fixed the issue with Feature, but Trivia doesn't seem to work. When checking the log, it seems to have this error. This repeats for all Trivia files I have in my directory.

  1. 2025-04-17 22:43:06.344 T:7800 info <general>: [- PreShow Experience -] (API): Processing trivia: CapBraveNewWorld4.png

  2. 2025-04-17 22:43:06.345 T:7800 error <general>: XFILE::CDirectory::GetDirectory - Error getting D:\Cinema Vision\Trivia\CapBraveNewWorld4.png

Hi,

any News regarding this? I seem to have the same issue. Features are skipping randomly no matter which content is played. SDR, HDR etc can happen with any content.

I am using HTPC on Windows 10 with latest Kodi 21.2 version.

Anything I can share to help fixing this?

Thanks 🙏

I've been travelling for work and just got home yesterday, so I haven't had any time to look into this. The previous log didn't show any errors related to PreShow. The only thing the log gives is:

  1. warning <general>: CRendererHQ::CheckVideoParameters: chosen scaling method 1 is not supported by renderer

  2. warning <general>: CVideoPlayerVideo::OutputPicture - timeout waiting for buffer

I'm not saying that is what is causing the issue, just that they are the only clues that we currently have. I read a few posts about DXVA causing a similar issue. Here's a link to 1 of the posts.

Hi,

many thanks for reverting back. I tried disabling DXVA but the issue still happens.
Please find a debug log attached. Sorry for sending a ZIP Archive, but pastebin doesnt seem to allow more than 512KB.

The problem happened when the TRON Ares Trailer started. It started for a second or two and than was skipped to the next trailer (Fantastic Four).

Hope this helps a little bit.

Let me know if I can do more!

I've tested this on Windows 11 (I don't have anything with Windows 10) a few times and haven't encountered any issues with playback. No one in the Discord channel is reporting these issues, so my best guess is it is computer specific.

I'll post back if I get any new suggestions.

Usualy, I am using madVR with MPC-HC as external player launching Files from KODI.

If PreshowExperience is used, than KODI is using internal player as configured in playercorefactory.xml in userdata folder.

Dont know if this might play any role?

Hi,

I played around today again but even with starting with a brand new installation and sequence from scratch it’s still happening. I also have resetted all the settings

it’s not related to a specific Video. It can happen with a trailer or a commercial video. Sometimes it happens once in a sequence, sometimes it does happen multiple times.

It also doesn’t matter if I disable the actions I am using. And it’s also happening if I put the content directory locally on drive C:

So I am out of ideas to be honest. Do you have any suggestions? If not, I thank you guess I need to drop PSE :(

Thanks

Christian

And one extra info.

I dropped external Player and just used Kodi internal Player. It’s only happening to the internal Player!
